happy death day!

hotdogs in the swamp...

my sister is researching shoes in brazil and told me that today is the national day of the dead.

so, to all my brazillian friends, dia feliz dos mortos!!! take care and drive safely...

talking about a death wish, i'm never going to live in mackenzie town for this reason:

i thought this traffic structure was archaic and it's time had passed. but it's my responsibility as an outstanding driver to review the rules of the road.

we need more of those - notice what's missing? lights!

in my driving class, the instructor said they will be putting traffic circles in most new neighbourhoods because they are more efficient than lights.

the problem is that most drivers know what the lights mean, but very few know what the hell to do at a traffic circle.

dave, i wish the pox on your idea.

steffie, i agree with your second point. i was improvising the rules the other day. some idiot honked at me...

to this day i don't know what i did wrong...

from further study, i come to the conclusion that 1) cars entering a traffic circle (either lane) must yield to those in the traffic circle. 2) cars on the inner lane of the circle are god-like and have the right of way to do whatever the hell they want... 3) the lane to be in if you want to turn is on the outside lane. otherwise for any other turn, best you be in the inner lane...

now only if i can remember and process these rules when other idiots are barreling down my back side.

actually, the rule is quite simple. if you're on the outside you're getting out at the next exit; if you're on the inside you can exit anywhere. so:

1) if you know where your exit is, you can approach a cirle from either lane (outside if it's next) and feel safe.

2) if you DON'T know where your exit is, choose the left lane and drive around in circles until you are sure which exit is yours, then take it.

the ONLY time there is a problem is if someone enters on the outside and their exit is AFTER the first one, because they have to careen into the inside lane to stay in the circle, cutting off everyone else.

come to think of it, i think i used the outside lane and didn't yield to the idiot honker on the inside lane... it won't happen ever again if i can remember the rules till then...

I used to have drive in "roundabouts" in Australia all the time, they're not that bad once you get used to them. They're kinda handy if you're lost and need to do a u-turn!

Novemeber 1st is also "All Saints Day" in the Philippines. I was going to write a blog about it actually... hmmm maybe I still will.
