amazing race 8...

DISCLAIMER: the following entry contains references to the television show "amazing race 8" that you may or may not want to read...

ok, i think mike is home... unless he was blown away by a cyclone. not funny...

so, i'm going to talk about the new amazing race.

i'm not sure about this family concept but i'm going to give it a chance.

quickly. my initial observations:

the gaghans (mum, dad, 2 obnoxious kids): the kids are kind of obnoxious. they are non-entities so far. hopefully, they'll have challenges for them to do like lick ice cream cones. first challenge that involves reaching for something really really high they are toast. gone within first 3 shows.

the schroeders (dad and step family): dad is kind of funny in an obnoxious kinda way. 2 kids are larger than previous family. daughter is kinda cute... not sure of finishing order. middle of the pack?

the aiellos (father and 3 sons-in-law): geezer dad-in-law will be the weakest link however that will be balanced with the slow-talkin' sons-in-laws. dunno. top 5 if they can keep the ol' neurons firing...

the rogers (normal family from louisiana): southern people's dumb? don't matter. the daughter's really hot. enuf said. will fair ok if type A father can keep it together and not implode. dunno. middle of the pack?

the blacks (token black family): ok, their funniest line was "we're a proud family". if you watch saturday morning cartoons, the "proud family" are black as well. biggest anchors: them lil' kids. that's why the other white family with youngens are toast soon, as well.

the weavers (widow and kids): my advice in life is to look both ways before fetching stuff off a race track. this team is loud. mother's religious references are rather grating. mother's line of the night: "pennsylvania's a state?". top 5 finisher?

the linz's (3 bros and 1 sis): they're amusing but dense. they failed the physical tasks. got lost. blah blah blah. you'd think they'd be better. i forecast an early departure for this folks if they don't shape up.

the bransens (father and 3 pert daughters): i can go on and on about their incompetencies but it comes down to one thing. man, those chicks are hot... my brain says middle finishers but something else is sayin' "hang in there girls!!!!".

the paolos (the eye-talians): plain obnoxious... bickering is gonna kill them. may be outta there on the second show. the white family with the 2 kids might outlast these people... can't believe father doesn't intervene when 2 punks are wacking their mum with verbal abuse. aren't these folks from the old country?

the godlewski's (4 pink sisters): the youngest is hot...but she's outta my league, fer sure... they've got to bone up on their map skills. it's gonna kill them eventually.

my predictions for final 3: 4 pink sisters, father and 3 pert daughters, father-in-law and 3 stooge-like sons-in-law...

i forgot. the first item in my xmas 2005 wishlist...

400 dullah?! that's all?!

You Are A: Bear Cub!

bear cubBears are strong and independent creatures who roam in the forest in search of food. Bears are usually gentle, but anger one and be prepared for their full fury! You're tough, you won't back down from a fight -- classic attributes of a bear. Intelligent and resourceful, though lazy at times, you are a fascinating creature of the wild.

You were almost a: Pony or a Parakeet
You are least like a: Chipmunk or a DucklingWhat Cute Animal Are You?

first we take bragg creek, then we take... st. paul, minnesota!!

front to back: highway 22, gina/dave, grass, nice pond, swell forest with leaves of many colours.

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?

Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all...

ok, if you haven't clued in yet, those lyrics refer to my bike and the bikeclub ride out to BC on the weekend. it was so good, dudes. i should of threw my helmet in the air at the intersection of highway 8 and 22 'cause i was that happy...

here comes the fudge...

courtesy of reuters

from the sublime (gilligan) to the ridiculous. i was watching the daily show last night and came across this gem of a story. dubya's at the UN doing his spiel when a reuters photographer snaps a pic of him writing a note to condie rice.

if you can't make it out, it reads "i think i really need a bathroom break. is this possible?..."

or, as jon stewart said, "here comes the fudge..."

george, just go... too much detail my friend.

GIIIIILLLLLLLLIGGGGGGANNNNNNNN!!!

bob denver is dead...

i dunno what has happened to the repeats lately, but i've seen each episode of "gilligan's island" at least 20 times. unfortunately, there were only 3 seasons worth of shows. hey, that's the same number of seasons star trek TOS (The Original Series) was on. good shows die young...

one of my favourite shows was the one where the shipwrecked crew encountered a befuddled, myopically-challenged japanese submariner. submerged under the south pacific for past 20 years, he thought the long expired WW2 was still raging. he conquered the island and its hapless human captives in the name of the emperor. of course, in the end gilligan came to the rescue...

man, they don't make shows like that anymore.

hooray for dullah phideen gas!!!!!

i forgot it was the big AB's 100th bday yesterday... happy bday. what ever that means. doesn't matter. instead, me and bikeclub got the hell outta dodge for another weekday meeting. this time the meeting place was out in bald prairie for the big trip down to turner valley.

1st highway to hell meeting of bikeclub at the corner of 22x and 37th st. yes, out in the middle of nowhere.

somewhere on 22 south. (l to r) dave stretching, car speeding by at about 150 km/h, gina gazing at the endless highway.

safe and sound at turner valley's city limits. km #51.9 for dave and gina, km #47.6 for moi.

for more pix and details check the official bikeclub website.

now that was fun!!! we should do it again. banff. next weekend.
