soapydave, i like your self portrait. however, i wish not to be there. no, no, no... that's not a shuttlecock. that's a ping pong ball. somehow i have this really bad feeling, i'm digging a deeper hole for myself with this comment. ugh.
Are you sure about what it actually is? I think that they might be these things that they also have in Vietnam and Cambodia. Its basically a plastic spring that's attached to a feather. I used to buy them for the orphans all the time (they break easily), and I bought about 10 of them in Vietnam and sent some home. I've got about 2 left sitting somewhere in my house. We can all go play one day.

hey, i think i'm the authority on contemporary chinese recreational sports here...the vietnamese and cambodians are rather old school with bouncing objects with their feet...
we're planning it in our heads. any suggestions for features - send me an email. or better still Amazing Race finale tomorrow?? come see the early show...
I'm afraid Al that I partially have to side with Dean. SOme of my little students have these things too. It didn't have a plastic spring though. It was more like a flattened (ovalesque) pingpong ball. But I guess you were there with the camera. Who ever will tell us the truth?

but it looks like it has a tail (the ping pong ball) when you slow it down/pause it
ps. would you like me to convert it to AVI?
Neat.
And that's a pingpong ball?
Yowza. Impressive.

hmmm, i think Dean has it - i was going to say also that it sure doesn't move like a ping pong ball.

dave, like that song goes, "get it outta your head and onto your website..."
i don't think the finale for TAR is tonite. they still have to philiminate one more team before the F3. then it's the double episodic dash for finish.
mike, i wish i can take credit for the footage but i can't (my sis is the artist). you're livin wid da bruthas, so it must be a non-ping pong ball.
Quite possible that its a late model. However, in the spirit of 'international night', I'm going to bring the article in reference for show and tell.
I once asked what it was called in Vietnamese, don't remember though. I know for sure in Khmer (Cambodian) its called a "sigh!"
